A Golden Hour Family Session in Marietta, Georgia

Not because everything was perfectly posed or quiet, but because the connection was so genuine you could feel it through the camera. This family session in Marietta was exactly that.
A family of six with four boys ranging from 10 years old all the way down to 2. Full of movement, laughter, chaos, tenderness, and the kind of love that doesn’t need much direction because it already exists so naturally.
When mom first reached out to me, she joked about wanting to make sure I could “handle” her boys. I quickly reassured her that as a mom of three boys myself, I’m basically a professional chaos coordinator at this point.
And honestly? It ended up being one of the best sessions of my entire career.

We photographed this session in one of my favorite sunset fields in Marietta during late spring, and the weather could not have been more perfect.
The light started soft and warm and slowly turned into the kind of golden glow photographers dream about. Toward the end of the session, we found a patch of yellow flowers tucked into the field, and it felt like the perfect finishing touch to an already beautiful evening.

So many moms feel pressure to wear dresses for family photos, but lately I’ve been encouraging families to lean into clothing that feels more natural to their real lives. Casual styling can feel deeply nostalgic because it reflects how your family actually exists together day to day.
And honestly, it worked perfectly for this session.

The Best Kind of Chaos
There’s a specific kind of beauty that exists in families with lots of boys. It’s loud and playful and constantly moving, but underneath all of it is this incredible tenderness.
What stood out most during this session was how genuinely connected they all were. I barely had to prompt them. The boys naturally piled onto their parents, laughed together, wrestled together, and stayed close without being asked.
The entire session felt alive.
And as a candid lifestyle photographer, those are always the moments I’m looking for — not forced smiles, but real connection.
The Moments Mom Will Treasure Most
One thing mom mentioned to me after the session was how much she loved the images of her and her oldest son together.
As a mom with older boys myself, I immediately understood why those images mattered so much.
It’s easy to snuggle toddlers. It’s not always easy to get older boys to show affection naturally during sessions, but those moments matter deeply because they represent a season that changes quietly and quickly.
