A Morning Maternity Session in Marietta
Not every maternity session has to include the whole family. I get asked by moms if they should do just them, the kids and/or add in their spouse. This mama of three chose to celebrate her pregnancy with a solo maternity session in Marietta, and it was absolutely stunning. Sometimes, it’s okay—more than okay—to make the focus just on you.
Pregnancy is such a unique season, and taking time to step in front of the camera alone allows you to fully embrace the beauty, strength, and anticipation of motherhood. These images aren’t just for her children to look back on one day—they’re also for her, a reminder of how radiant she was in this fleeting moment of time.
Why Morning Light is Just as Magical as Golden Hour
While golden hour gets a lot of love, morning light has its own kind of beauty. It’s softer, cooler, and often more even—creating a gentle glow that flatters skin tones and gives images a serene, airy feel.
Styling the Session
For her session, she wore pieces from my client closet, which is filled with unique finds and vintage thrifted treasures. The soft textures and timeless style of her wardrobe created a nostalgic, organic feel that paired perfectly with the morning light.
Client closet sessions take the stress out of outfit planning and ensure that everything flows seamlessly with the location. It’s one of my favorite ways to help mamas feel both comfortable and beautiful in front of the camera.
The Perfect Marietta Backdrop
We met at one of my favorite parks in Marietta, GA, an open field that feels private and serene, yet is conveniently close to Daily Grind Coffee. The field’s wide-open space and soft morning light set the stage for portraits that felt calm, quiet, and full of warmth.
There’s something special about photographing in the morning—the light is soft and dewy, and the world hasn’t quite woken up yet. It creates a peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for sessions where the focus is on connection and reflection.
Why Solo Maternity Sessions Matter
For moms with multiple kids, it can feel unusual to step in front of the camera without the whole family. But these sessions are about celebrating you—your strength, your body, your motherhood journey. Documenting this chapter on your own is a powerful way to honor the role you play and the life you’re carrying.
